Registering the kids for school.
Ximena: Excuse me, I need to register my children for school.
Tom: OK, how many kids do you have?
Ximena: Three.
Tom: How old are they?
Ximena: They are ten, thirteen, and fifteen years old.
Tom: What is the ten-year-old’s name?
Ximena: His name is Roberto Gonzales Garcia.
Tom: OK. Roberto will be in the fifth grade, in Mr. Clark’s class.

Talking with teachers.
Mr. Clark: Hello Ms. Garcia. I wanted to talk to you because Roberto is having trouble in English class.
Ximena: What does he need to do?
Mr. Clark: He needs to do his homework on time. Right now he has a D in the class.
Ximena: A “D”?! I didn’t know.
Mr. Clark: He gets an assignment every Monday, and it is due every Friday.
Ximena: I didn’t know. I’ll talk to him.
Mr. Clark: If he needs help with his homework, we can get a tutor.
